Dear Editor,
We appreciate the case series studied by Ranade et al. [1] that appeared in the May-Aug 2016 issue of the World Journal of Nuclear Medicine, entitled, "Unusual False Positive Radioiodine Uptake on 131 I Whole Body Scintigraphy in Three Unrelated Organs with Different Pathologies in Patients of Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma: A Case Series," in which they described three interesting cases.
However, we would like to question whether there may be typographical errors in the article. On page 137, in line 10 of the right column, the amount of 131 I is given as 54 μCi. On page 138, in line 18 of the left column, the amount of 131 I is given as 49 μCi. Moreover, on page 138, in line 14 of the right column, the amount of 131 I is given as 49 μCi. We would like to question whether the unit amount should not be μCi but rather mCi since there is a 1000-fold difference between 1 μCi and 1 mCi (1000 μCi = 1 mCi).
To avoid misunderstanding from the study and article, corrections of these typographical errors would be helpful.
